Llanos, last year\’s Player of the Year for basketball, graduated from Salem in June. While playing for Broward Community College, located in Florida, Llanos collapsed to her knees at a tournament game held that afternoon. After being revived by medics on scene, she died later that night in the hospital.

SENDING ITEMS TO OUR TROOPS – Members of the Troop Support 08059 recently met to pack up new donated items to send over seas to local troops. The items were placed in gift bags and sent to arrive right before Christmas to brighten the spirits of the troops and to remind them that their service is appreciated. (PHOTO PROVIDED)

I arrived after the fire was under control and cleanup work had begun. Incident occurred in the 200 unit block of Middlesex Street, two homes were damaged, cause is under investigation,no injuries reported. Volunteer fire departments from Bellmawr, Mt. PECK, Christine Helen On December 28, 2008, (nee Whalen), of Gloucester City, NJ, age 92. She was the beloved wife of the late William G. Peck, loving mother of Christine H. Greenwald and the late Brian T. Peck, and dear sister of the late Martha Kuhn and William Whalen.
Her dear grandchildren David A. (Marianne) and Karen L. Greenwald, great grandchildren Brian and Colin Greenwald and nephews William and Gregory Kuhn also survive her.
Mrs. Peck was a long time member of the former Christ Lutheran Church in Fairview and the Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church in Mt. Ephraim. She was very devoted to her family and was the caretaker to many.
Mrs. Peck\’s funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Assoc., 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. Gloucester City Mayor and Council passed a resolution last night naming Jack Lipsett as the new administrator for the City. Lipsett will receive an annual salary of $95,000. He is presently the administrator of Washington Township in Gloucester County. Lipsett will begin his job with the City on January 5, 2009.
He replaces Paul Kain, who was being paid the same salary for that position along with holding down the job of municipal clerk. Kain, who has tenure as the municipal clerk, will continue in that position at an annual salary of $65,000.
Mayor Bill James said he will release further information on the appointment later today.
According to information found on the Internet, Lipsett has held the position of Washington Township Business Administrator since 2007. Prior to then he worked for Woolwich Township, where he held the position of Township Administrator since 2006.
Before Woolwich Township, Lipsett was the Township Clerk/Administrator for Southampton Township in Burlington County (June 2000- Sept. 2006). Lipsett has also previously held the position of Business Administrator in Mt. Holly (Aug. 1999- June 2000).
Lipsett holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Widener University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University. He makes his home in Cherry Hill with his wife and two daughters.

The Gloucester City Planning Board last week approved plans for 29 new townhomes to be built on \”Freedom Pier,\” the former Coast Guard pier which juts out into the Delaware River at King and Cumberland Streets.
The primary concern both the Board’s engineer and the City planner had was the issue of parking.
City Solicitor John Kearney explained that workers in the office building on the site use the available parking lot. Even though the building is at capacity, there are still plenty of spaces available.

Age 81 of Lakeland, Florida. Formerly of Gloucester City. Passed away on December 27, 2008 in the loving care of her daughter at her home. Born in Gloucester City, NJ, she was the Environmental Health Coordinator of Gloucester County Health Department in Woodbury for many years.
She is survived by her loving daughter Kristina Johnsen of Lakeland, Fl and loving son Gregory Johnsen of Brooklawn, NJ. Cherished Grandmother of Derek Johnsen and Tyler Johnsen both of Brooklawn, NJ.
