NEWS Correspondent

With Cub Scout Pack 185, posting colors, and Francesca Macrina, 13, singing the National Anthem, Councilman John Bollinger was sworn in for his seventh term at Bellmawr’s Reorganization Meeting January 2.

Congressman Rob Andrews (D-NJ) administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Bollinger, as his family surrounded him, with his wife, Susan, holding the Bible.

Outgoing Council President Jim D’Angelo was scheduled to be sworn in, but was under the weather, and unable to attend.

Councilman Steve Sauter was to be installed as the new Council President, but was out of town. Both gentlemen will be sworn in later.

In comments following the swearing in, Congressman Andrews wished everyone a Happy New Year, and thanked the public for letting him serve in Washington.

He also commented that Bellmawr has been a special town for generations, and further noted that, in light of the country’s current \”dark times,\” he is hopeful that president-elect Barack Obama will lead America in the right direction.

He closed his comments by thanking Mayor and Council for their service to the Borough.

In the absence of Mayor Frank Filipek Sr., as well as Council President Jim D’Angelo, Councilman Lou Di Angelo chaired the Reorganization Meeting, and wished everyone a Happy New Year, on behalf of Mayor and Council.

In other Borough business, all resolutions listed on the agenda were unanimously approved.

Under the public portion of the meeting, an unnamed Borough resident inquired, as to the proposed widening of the intersection at Browning Road and the Black Horse Pike.

Councilman Di Angelo informed the resident that the Borough is currently in its third attempt to get widening plans approved by the state DOT, adding that the widening would fall on the Black Horse Pike portion of the intersection.

He then closed the meeting, by inviting everyone to a reception at VFW Post 7410.
