The family of 6th grader, Haku Misawic, will perform the assembly. Haku is a music student of band director, Mary Manion. Haku was born in Philadelphia, but has been schooled by his family about his Samoan ancestry. Mrs. Manion has a brother currently living in New Zealand.

(Gloucester City News)After a total of nine hours in the air, Coast Guard Petty Officer (PO3) Patrick Cummings, 22, of Mt. Ephraim, arrived home for two weeks leave on April 28.

After leaving his duty station in Juneau, Alaska, Cummings flew two and a half hours to Seattle, where he boarded a four-hour flight to O’Hare Airport in Chicago, and finally, an-other two and a half hour plane into Philadelphia.

Gloucester outlasted New Egypt, 4-3, in 12 innings. The game ended when Lions second baseman Tabby Dick mishandled a line drive, chased the ball down in right field and fired a perfect strike to catcher Tres Anderson, who tagged Haley Anderson for the final out.

ALLENTOWN There are plenty of ways to lose a softball game. One of the toughest to swallow is when the final call of the game is disputed. In the Non-Public South A final Tuesday, the No. 5 seed Gloucester Catholic High School softball team had to walk away from Allentown with its toughest loss of the season a 2-1 defeat at the hands of second-seeded Bishop Ahr.
