New Jersey\’s Priceless Resource – Studying the Delaware River, a feature article originally posted in May 2008, has been updated to include the latest data available. The information will be of interest to both river and saltwater anglers because the Delaware estuary provides a nursery environment for young fish to grow.

Monitoring populations of these juvenile fish is essential for fishery managers to estimate abundance and evaluate the viability of the population. These assessments provide a means to predict population trends and future harvest potential of monitored species. The DEP\’s Division of Fish & Wildlife\’s Bureau of Marine Fisheries conducts several surveys each year, which allow biologists to study the status of a given species population or water body.

Gloucester High School second baseman Tabby Dick was determined not to play 13 innings. So when the line drive hit by New Egypt\’s Kaci Hopkins knocked her glove off, Dick quickly recovered. She rolled on the ground, grabbed the ball, spun around and sent a perfect throw to catcher Teresa Anderson, who tagged out runner Erika Tucker at the plate.
