The March 27, Board of Education Budget Hearing in Bellmawr was held in the Bell Oaks’ All-Purpose Room, in anticipation of an expected large turnout.
The masses did not disappoint, as the room was filling to capacity well prior to the slated 6:30 p.m. start.
After a public hearing, the Board approved the proposed 2010-11 school budget, which will increase taxes $52.50 on the average assessed home of $150,000.
Superintendent Annette Castiglione opened the meeting by announcing the state had cut more than $138,700 in aid, adding that school districts are not likely to get June payments totaling $860,000 either.
Board President Jody Mangus and the superintendent thanked everyone for attending.
The Superintendent said the meeting was mandated by law, to be held once per year, and that the District just got the budget numbers on March 17.
