Press Release September 9, 2010

In order to make the streets safer for the school children and pedestrians the Mayor and \"6a00d8341bf7d953ef01157231bb93970b-120wi\" Council along with the Police Department have authorized several new stop signs to be put up primarily around the neighborhood schools. The areas that will see new stop signs are Hudson Street at Brown Street, Ridgeway at Joy, Ridgeway at Atlantic , Cumberland at Sussex, Sussex at Somerset.

There will be a period of adjustment for the public to get use to the new signs, all of the Gloucester City Police Officers will be directed to issue warnings for any infractions over the next few weeks. The overall goal is to make the commute to school a safe and enjoyable one for the children.

We have also instituted a temporary parking ban on the South side of Klemm Avenue due to the parking situation. The parking situation is a hazard for everyone including the emergency vehicles that use Klemm Avenue to respond to calls. There have been no parking signs that are temporarily erected and the message board has been put in place reminding everyone not to park there. Parking is permitted on the railroad side of Klemm Avenue. We are asking the parents to please park elsewhere and walk to the practice field.
