VILLANOVA, Pa. – During the recent early signing period, Villanova signed five players to National Letters of Intent and all are expected to enroll in the University for the 2011-12 academic year, it was announced by head coach Joe Godri today. The group of five players includes four pitchers and an infielder as the Wildcats addressed a number of immediate needs with the beginning of its recruiting class for next year.
\”I am very happy with the group we have assembled,\” Godri said. \”I can\’t say enough how great a job the assistant coaches have done throughout the whole recruiting process and especially in terms of filling what we anticipate some of the team\’s needs to be.\”
Two local products are among the five signees, including left-handed pitcher Jeff Courter (Maple Glen, Pa.) and shortstop B.J. Bochicchio (Moosic, Pa.). In addition, the team continued its tradition of recruiting well in the Chicago area and signed left-handed pitcher Josh Harris (Streamwood, Ill.) as well as right-hander Tyler Radtke (Buffalo Grove, Ill.). The final signee is Josean Lazaro (Guaynabo, P.R.) out of Puerto Rico, a right-handed pitcher who can also play in the outfield. |
