CNB Hunting/Fishing Delaware News: Recreational Black Sea Bass Season 4 Days Earlier

DOVER (May 6, 2015) – DNREC Secretary David Small has signed an Emergency Order changing the opening day of recreational black sea bass season to May 15 rather than the previously established May 19 date, thereby keeping Delaware’s tidal finfish regulations consistent with revised federal recreational black sea bass season regulations published March 25. Delaware’s normal regulatory process takes four months, so the Emergency Order kept Delaware consistent with federal regulations.

 A black sea bass management region extending from Delaware through North Carolina is recognized by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s summer flounder, scup, and black sea bass Interstate Fisheries Management Plan. Other states in this management region have already stated their intent to open their seasons on May 15, 2015.

It all started in 2001, when Shekhter and her husband Ilya launched 3dRose LLC out of the family garage in Howell. The couple started the business on a part time basis, while keeping their day jobs; Dina a bookkeeper and Ilya a car salesman. \”I always had a passion and love for art,\” said Shekhter. \”The initial idea for the business was to preserve roses from weddings and special occasions and then incorporate them into art pieces. That’s where the name for the company originated.\”

OFFICER DOWN–2 Police Officers Shot and Killed

HAITTIESBURG MS May 10, 2015–Police Officer Liqori Tate and Police Officer Benjamin Deen were shot and killed while making a traffic stop of a vehicle occupied by three subjects near the intersection of 4th Street and Gordon Street in downtown Hattiesburg.

One of the subjects stole the patrol car after both officers were shot. All three occupants of the vehicle, two brothers and a female, were apprehended later in the night. One of the brothers and the female were charged with two counts of capital murder. The second brother was charged with accessory after the fact to capital murder. A fourth individual was charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the case.

Officer Tate had served with the Hattiesburg Police Department for 11 months.

2 Sewell Residents charged with assaulting child

WOODBURY NJ–Jacob Lihn (DOB 6/19/89) and Jennifer Pandorf (DOB 7/10/90), both of the same Lupus Lane, Sewell NJ address were arrested Friday (5/8) and charged with assaulting Lihn\’s two-year-old daughter, causing retinal hemorrhaging and bleeding on the brain.

The injuries came to the attention of doctors when the child\’s mother sought treatment April 11 after the girl had returned from a three day visit with Lihn.. The girl was initially treated at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Pomona NJ, then transferred to Cooper Medical Center in Camden NJ. She is now in a Marlton NJ rehabilitation center.

Lihn and Pandorf were charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Lihn was jailed in default of $50,000 bail and Pandorf was held in default of $40,000 bail. Both are unemployed and have no other children in their custody.

The investigation was conducted by the Major Crimes Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor\’s Office and the Washington Township Police Department.

Nesquehoning Borough police officer charged with causing fatal crash while on duty

HARRISBURG PA (May 7, 2015)-– Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced criminal charges have been filed against a Nesquehoning Borough police officer accused of speeding excessively while on duty and causing a car crash that killed a woman and seriously injured her husband.

Steven M. Homanko, 26, 40 Third St., Beaver Meadows, is charged with one count each of homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault by vehicle, among other charges.

\"Imgres\"NEW YORK, NY MAY 8, 2015–A six-count superseding indictment was unsealed yesterday in Brooklyn federal court charging husband and wife defendants Gregorio and Eleonora Gigliotti, (photo left, source Daily Mail.com) their son Angelo Gigliotti, and a relative who is an Italian citizen, Franco Fazio, with conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, importation of cocaine, and attempted possession of cocaine. In addition, the Gigliotti defendants were charged with unlawful use and possession of firearms. The charges arise from the defendants’ participation in an international narcotics-trafficking operation between July 1, 2014 and March 11, 2015.

The charges were announced by Kelly T. Currie, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York; Raymond R. Parmer, Special Agent-in-Charge, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), New York; and Diego Rodriguez, Assistant Director-in-Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York Field Office (FBI).

Norristown Bookmaker Pleads To Tax Charges

 

PHILADELPHIA PA May 7, 2015 – Jacob Corropolese, Sr., 65, of Norristown, PA, pleaded guilty today to tax charges in connection with his sports bookmaking operation. Corropolese admitted to filing false tax returns when he ran a sports bookmaking operation. Corropolese received more than $500,000 in proceeds from bettors but did not report any income from his bookmaking activities on his federal income tax returns for 2010 and 2011. As a result he substantially underreported his income in each year.
