BROOKLAWN N.J. April 1, 2016 (Cleary’s Notebook News)--Gloucester Catholic Head Coach Adam Tussey (photo labove) notched his 1st win as the new coach by beating Kingsway High School 7 – 1 in the Rams home opener. Tussey who took over for Mike Rucci who departed for Rowan University was left a team needing to fill seven spots. The 2015 team loaded with future college players took not only seven fielding positions but Tussey needed to replace four pitchers.
Tussey looking to continue the Rams past success without any interruption is looking at team leaders for help. With returning pitchers Tyler Mondile (Florida State signee) and Eric Grafton (Mercer County College) will be providing leadership and stability on the mound or in the dugout.
Against Kingsway Tussey called on 6′ 7″ lefty Grafton. From the 1st pitch, Grafton showed the dominance which was expected from Coach Tussey.
The young Rams provided Grafton all the runs he needed in the second when the home team plated two runs. Over the next couple innings the Rams opened up a 5 – 1 lead before closing out the 7 – 1 victory.
The Rams travel to New York on Saturday to play Memorial West New York at Miller Stadium where GCHS pro prospect Tyler Mondile will take the mound, Before hosting powerful Pennsville Memorial on Wednesday.
