TRENTON — At a press conference in Trenton today, gun control advocates called on Gov. Chris Christie to sign into law more than a dozen bills on his desk that are intended to crack down on gun violence.
Gun rights supporters are urging the opposite, by giving people who sign a petition urging Christie to veto most of the bills a chance at winning a free gun.
Christie — who is out of the state — has given little indication as to what he will do. So far, he has acted on one bill, vetoing a measure to ban the state pension fund from investing in companies that manufacture or sell assault rifles for civilian use.
