Judge Orders No Contract with Sex Offense Victim at Salem I

A Hi-Nella NJ man who pleaded guilty to having unwanted sexual contact with a nuclear plant co-worker was ordered at sentencing today (10/17) to avoid being seen by the woman when he picks up his wife, who still works with the victim at the Salem I nuclear facility.

\”Let’s make it happen,\” Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen Jackson told defendant Michael J. Ford (DOB 5/30/58) and his attorney, after hearing the victim read an \”impact\” statement in which she said her trustfulness \”has been replaced with fear, suspicion, anger, shame and utter embarrassment.\”

She went into an \”emotional downward spiral\” after the incident that occurred on Route I-295 in Logan Twp. NJ as she drove Ford home from work on 10/25/13, the woman said. The woman’s husband reported Ford’s actions to the New Jersey State Police afterward. Ford no longer works at the plant, but his acts \”continue to haunt me\” she said.

As a first-offender who pleaded guilty to the fourth-degree crime of criminal sexual contact, Ford was sentenced by Judge Allen-Jackson to three years on probation and was required to undergo a psychological evaluation and follow its recommendations.

In addition to the general order that Ford have no contact with the woman or her family, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Michelle Jeneby asked the judge to include a sentencing requirement that Ford change how he picks up his wife after work at the Salem County NJ nuclear plant. \”It’s the fear of seeing him,\” said Jeneby. One afternoon, Ford parked his car one vehicle away from the woman’s car, Jeneby said.

Judge Allen-Jackson suggested Ford’s wife walk to another building and parking lot at the end of the day. \”’I’m not trying to make it convenient for Mr. Ford,\” the judge said. \”I want to make it safe for the victim.\”
