BROOKLAWN NJ(CNBNEWSNET)–According to WPVI, Channel 6, Philadelphia a white pickup crashed into the Hess Gas Station at the Brooklawn circle around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say a pickup truck that sped by a Collingswood patrol car going 100 m.p.h. slammed into the gas pumps on Route 130 in Brooklawn, starting a fire and leaving the driver in critical condition.
Police said the truck was going so fast the Collingswood officer lost sight of it as he pulled out to follow. Police say the driver went through the traffic circle, lost control and struck one of the Hess gas pumps, knocking it over starting a small fire.
The officers arriving at the scene hit the emergency fuel stop switch and used fire extinguishers to control the flames. Firefighters arrived and quickly put out the fire. The accident is under investigation. The name of the driver wasn’t released.
