MILWAUKEE – This morning, to celebrate National Bobblehead Day and America’s 250th Birthday, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first Declaration of Independence Bobblehead Set. The very unique puzzle bobblehead set is based off John Trumbull’s 1818 “Declaration of Independence” painting and features bobbleheads of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Hancock that fit together with the rest of the signers pictured in a replica of the painting behind the bobbleheads. The special edition bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum and are part of a series of bobbleheads being unveiled throughout 2026 to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
The bobblehead set, which will be individually numbered to 1,776, is now available for pre-order exclusively through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. Expected to ship in June, the bobblehead set is $176 plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. The bobbleheads join many other patriotic and political bobbleheads produced by the Museum that can be found here with additional bobbleheads being added throughout 2026.
John Trumbull’s iconic 1818 painting “Declaration of Independence” stands as one of the most recognizable images in American history, though it depicts a moment often misunderstood by the public. The work portrays the presentation of the draft declaration to Congress on June 28, 1776, rather than the actual signing ceremony, which occurred over several months beginning in August of that year. Trumbull, who served as an aide to George Washington during the Revolutionary War, spent years researching and creating the painting, traveling extensively to capture accurate likenesses of the Founding Fathers from life when possible or from portraits and descriptions when subjects had already passed away. The composition features 47 figures in Independence Hall, including the five-member drafting committee—John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston—presenting their work to John Hancock, who presides over the Continental Congress. Commissioned by Congress in 1817, the painting was completed in 1818 and later placed in the Capitol Rotunda in 1826, where it remains today as part of a series of Trumbull’s Revolutionary War paintings that have profoundly shaped how Americans visualize their nation’s founding.
America’s 250th birthday, known as the Semiquincentennial, will be celebrated on July 4, 2026, marking two and a half centuries since the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776. This milestone anniversary promises to be one of the most significant patriotic celebrations in the nation’s history, with planning already underway through the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, established by Congress to coordinate nationwide commemorative activities. Communities across all 50 states are preparing elaborate festivities that will honor America’s founding principles, celebrate its diverse heritage, and reflect on the nation’s journey from 13 colonies to a global superpower. The celebration is expected to feature historical reenactments, educational programs, cultural exhibitions, concerts, fireworks displays, and special ceremonies at iconic locations like Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the National Mall in Washington D.C., and landmarks throughout the country. Beyond the pageantry, the Semiquincentennial offers Americans an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about the nation’s past achievements and future aspirations, encouraging civic participation and a renewed commitment to the democratic ideals that the Founding Fathers enshrined in the Declaration of Independence.
“We’re excited to unveil the first bobblehead commemorating the Declaration of Independence to celebrate National Bobblehead Day and America’s 250th Birthday,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “This very unique bobblehead set will be a great way for people to commemorate our nation’s founding 250 years ago.”
