Commissioners celebrate 124th Correctional Police Officer Recruit Class

The Camden County College Police Academy for Corrections will celebrate the graduation ceremony of the 124th Basic Correctional Police Officer Recruit Class. The 27 graduates will go on to serve in correctional facilities in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Cape May, Mercer and Salem counties.

“These officers represent the next generation of dedicated corrections professionals,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Department of Corrections. “It is not an easy job, but it is an essential one. I look forward to seeing them make a meaningful difference in our community.”

U.S. planning major military base upgrade in Greenland amid diplomatic crisis, officials say U.S. troops on standby for possible deployment to Minnesota, and military strike takes out another ISIS leader.

1.      Major airfield upgrades are in the works for the U.S. military’s base in Greenland even as a diplomatic crisis between the United States and NATO allies in Europe ratchets up over President Donald Trump’s push to take control of the territory. The plan calls for spending up to $25 million for a new runway lighting system, river crossing bridge and related projects to improve flight operations at Pituffik Space Base, the military’s Arctic hub, according to a new government solicitation for bids. The territory has emerged as a geopolitical flashpoint. On Saturday, Trump upped the ante in his push to acquire Greenland, saying he will impose new tariffs on several European countries in lieu of a deal for the United States to take possession of the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

Deptford Man Arrested for Attempting to Lure Underage Boy

Camden County, NJ – A Deptford man has been arrested and charged for attempting to meet with an underage boy to engage in sexual conduct after chatting online, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Joseph J. Catrambone, 38, is charged with 1st -degree Attempted Manufacturing of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), 2nd -degree Attempting to Lure a Child, 2nd -degree Attempted Sexual Assault of a Minor, 3rd -degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 3 rd -degree Attempting to Send Obscene Material to a Minor, and 4th -degree Attempted Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor. On January 7, 2026, Catrambone began communicating online with a person he believed was a 14-year-old boy. Meanwhile, the person chatting with him was actually an undercover detective from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit. During the conversation, Catrambone sent an explicit photo of himself and expressed his desire to engage in sexual acts with the child. Additionally, he requested the child send explicit photos to him. Catrambone ultimately arranged to meet the child at a specific location for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. Later that day, Catrambone was taken into custody at a pre-arranged location in Collingswood. He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant John Cochran of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit at (856) 225-8826. Tips may also be sent to CAMDEN.TIPS. All individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Commissioners to Host Free Expungement Clinic on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

On January 19 in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Board of Commissioners will be partnering with the Volunteer UP legal clinic, ARCHER Attorneys at Law, Camden County College, and the Camden County Bar Association to host a free expungement clinic. The clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Camden Technology Center located at Camden County College’s campus in Camden City (200 N. Broadway, Camden).

“Countless people have been disproportionally impacted by our criminal justice system, with past mistakes continuing to stand in the way of employment, housing, and long-term stability,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young. “This free expungement event removes the financial and systemic obstacles that far too many individuals face and gives them the opportunity to create a pathway forward to a successful future.”

Attendees can meet with an attorney, free of charge, to discuss getting their criminal records expunged.

Camden County Freedom Medal to be presented to 11 community leaders

(Cherry Hill, NJ) – On Wednesday, January 21, a ceremony will honor 11 Camden County residents for their selfless contributions to improving their community at the 2026 Camden County Freedom Medal Ceremony.

Established by the Board of Commissioners in 2001, this award honors residents in Camden County who demonstrate ideals and actions that reflect the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and have made a tangible contribution and lasting impact on their community. These accomplishments must be based strictly on volunteer work, excluding any remuneration. Since it began 25 years ago, more than 1,200 Camden County residents have received this prestigious honor.

Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Adds New Detective

Camden, NJ – Welcome to the team! The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has hired a new detective, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.

On Monday, January 12, 2026, Detective Michael Famular was sworn in by Prosecutor MacAulay before First Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Chatten, Chief of Detectives Robert Ferris, Chief of Staff Michael Mangold, and Deputy Chief of Detectives Randall MacNair.

Detective Famular joins the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office after having most recently served as a police officer with the Haddon Heights Police Department since 2014.  Prior to that, he spent time working for the North Wildwood Police Department.  He is a graduate of the University of Scranton.

Missing Juvenile-Steven Boardly, Jr.

(Camden, NJ) – The Camden County Police Department is looking for a missing 15-year-old from Whitman Park.

Steven Boardley Jr. has been reported missing from the 1700 block of Mount Ephraim Avenue. He is described as a Hispanic male, 6’2”, 168 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket, gray shirt and beige sandals and carrying a black backpack. He is known to frequent Palmyra, Willingboro and Cinnaminson.

I-295 southbound/Al-Jo’s Curve overnight closure tocontinue next week in Bellmawr, Camden County

Closure necessary for pipe installation

The I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound, also known as Al-Jo’s Curve, is scheduled to be closed and detoured overnight next week as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County. This is a continuation of work that began on Monday, January 5.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Monday, January 12 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, and continuing each night through Thursday, January 15 at the same time, and from 10 p.m. Friday, January 16 until 8 a.m. Saturday, January 17, the I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound and I-295 southbound, also known as Al-Jo’s Curve, is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The right lane on I-295 southbound also will be closed just after Exit 28/Route 168. All motorists traveling on I-295 southbound will be directed to stay left onto Exit 26. The closures are necessary for pipe installation and removal of the temporary Browning Road Bridge west abutment. The following detour will be in place:

I-295 southbound to Route 42 southbound/I-295 southbound Detour:

  • Motorists traveling on I-295 southbound wishing to continue onto Route 42 southbound will be directed to exit left at Exit 26/I-76 westbound
  • Take I-76 westbound to Exit 2/I-676 northbound
  • Take I-676 northbound to Exit 1/Collings Avenue
  • Turn right onto Collings Avenue
  • Turn left onto I-676 southbound, which becomes I-76 eastbound
  • Take I-76 eastbound to Exit 1A/I-295 southbound

The work is part of the Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. To sign up for I-295 Direct Connect project updates go to 295DirectConnect.com or text CONNECT to 1-844-844-3681.

Portable variable message signs are being used to provide advance notification of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Code Blue Advisories are declared when the National Weather Service predicts that the temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, or the wind chill temperature will be zero degrees Fahrenheit or lower for a period of two hours or more.

“As temperatures fall to dangerously low levels, it is critical that our residents have access to a safe place to stay warm,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Safety. “We urge everyone to check in on vulnerable neighbors, ensure heating systems are working properly, and bring pets indoors.”

On July 20, 2022. Age 99. Of Woodbury. Formerly of Gloucester City. Born in Donegal Township, PA, he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Maude (Horr) Kearney. Loving father of Frances X. Kearney (the late Deborah), Catherine E. Palumbo (the late Joseph), Marie Hunter (William), Anne Gross (Michael), Joseph Kearney (Catherine), John E. Kearney (Carol), Clare Kearney, Paul Kearney, Stephen Kearney (Mary Kathryn), Mark Kearney (Jill); many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Brian is also survived by his sister, Florence Reed; daughter-in-law, Rory Kearney; son-in-law, Tony Lentini. Brian was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Catherine V. (Williams) Kearney, he was also predeceased by his children, Michael Kearney, Patricia Lentini, Brian P. Kearney, Margaret Mary Kearney and Gerald Kearney.

Brian honored his country during WWII serving in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Engineer. He went on to work as an Electrical Engineer at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Naval Air Engineering Laboratory, Frankford Arsenal. Brian was employed as a supervisor of ship building for USN, Camden, NJ, and finally the Naval Air Development Center, Warminster, PA. where he retired on October 27, 1977.

Brian was ordained as a Deacon of the Catholic Diocese of Camden on October 4, 1976, and was assigned to Mary, Mother of the Church, Bellmawr. He also served at St. Vincent Pallotti R.C. Church, Haddon Township and Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Mt. Ephraim. Additionally, he also served in Hospital Ministry from 1976 to 1983.

Relatives, friends, brother Catholic Deacons and Clergy are invited to his viewing on Monday, July 25th, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM on Tuesday, July 26th in the church. The live-streaming of the Mass can be viewed at 10 AM at https://www.facebook.com/GloucesterSMCChurch   Interment with U.S. Navy Military Honors in Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, NJ. There will be No morning viewing.
