Winslow Township announces that all General Offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.
Curbside trash and recycling materials normally picked up on Monday, September 7th will be picked up on Tuesday, September 8th and will continue to be picked up one day late until Saturday, September 12th.
Flora Dorothea “Dottie” Hinger (née Bauscher), passed peacefully on the morning of September 2, 2026, at Brookdale Evesham Senior Living in Vorhees, NJ, at the age of 94.
She was married for 61 years to John T. “Jack” Hinger, and raised three children with him. Later she decided to attend college, earning a nursing degree at an age well beyond most of her classmates, a challenge she met with eager determination and took well-deserved pride in accomplishing, working for a time as a visiting nurse. She loved nature and music, often harmonizing to her husband’s singing of old standards as they drove on family trips to the shore.
Preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice May Bauscher (née Hughes) and Walter Julius Bauscher; her husband John T. Hinger, Sr. (in 2013); and her brothers Walter Julius Bauscher, Jr. and Glenn Hughes Bauscher. Survived by her children Judith Hinger Hoskins (Darwin), John T. Hinger, Jr., and James D. Hinger (Lorraine); her grandchildren Pamela, Natalie, Kimberly (Ryan), Jacqueline (Daniel), Daniel (Madison), Matthew (Jessie), and Bo; and great grandchildren Aiden, Rylynn, Maddison, Jonathan, Vincent, and Kinsley; also her nieces Tina, Jill, Carol (Hal), Linda, and Dianne (Chris); and nephews David (May), Michael (Michelle), Bob, Don (Karen) and their families. We will all miss her.
Dottie’s memorial service will be private for her family.

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is alerting residents and business owners of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent invoices sent via email by individuals posing as members of the Camden County Planning Board, Director of Public Works, and Director of Planning. In these emails, the individuals involved in the scam are attempting to solicit funds through wire transfer by directing recipients to send payment to illegitimate accounts.
Residents or business owners who receive a suspicious invoice are asked to contact their local police department.
The Camden County Planning Board, as well as all municipal Planning Boards, will not randomly solicit funds through email.
All New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) facilities, including agencies, road test sites, and inspection stations, will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of the state holiday.
The facilities will remain open for normal business hours the rest of this week, including Saturday, September 5.

(CAMDEN, NJ) — Cooper University Health Care has reached a major milestone in trauma care, administering its 1,000th whole blood transfusion to a critically injured patient. As South Jersey’s only Level I Trauma Center, Cooper leads the region in advancing trauma care by expanding access to whole blood beyond the hospital in the field through partnerships with emergency medical services throughout the area.

Eugene Jackson, of Gloucester City, was taken into custody without incident at about 2:36 a.m., according to the Gloucester City Police Department.
Officers responded to a home in the 600 block of Ridgeway Street around 1 a.m. following reports of a man pouring lighter fluid over the residence and its occupants. By the time police arrived, the two victims had managed to escape the house unharmed, authorities said. Jackson, however, remained inside and refused to come out, police said.

Residents of Houston’s Fifth Ward live adjacent to documented creosote contamination. The neighborhood is ninety-four percent non-Hispanic Black. It is a state-designated cancer cluster. Those who live there do not need a clinical trial to tell them that cancer is coming for their community. They need a way to find it before it’s too late.
The possibility is no longer theoretical. The NHS-Galleri study — the largest randomized controlled trial of multi-cancer early detection (MCED) ever conducted — demonstrated that a blood test can detect cancer at four times the rate of standard screening alone. Critically, it identified cancers at Stages I and II, when treatment is less invasive, less costly, and far more likely to succeed.
