Strollin’ through the Colon” for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center will host a public outreach event at the Food Bank of South Jersey featuring a “Strollin’ Colon,” a walk-through inflatable colon to help educate the public on colon cancer and the importance of early screening.

WHEN:             Tuesday, March 10, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

WHERE:           Food Bank of South Jersey (1501 John Tipton Boulevard, Pennsauken, NJ 08110)

WHO:       Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center experts will be available to answer questions about colorectal cancer along with providing resources for prevention, screening and early detection.

Details:           Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, according to the American Cancer Society. Screening guidelines now recommend those at average risk start screening at age 45 or sooner for anyone with a family history of colorectal cancer. Throughout the month of March, the “Strollin’ Colon” will be visiting other community centers and Jefferson Health locations.

Earlier in the day, Rutgers–Camden Students are invited to attend a Meet & Greet, Lunch and Dialogue from 11:20 AM to 12:20 PM at The Bridge Cultural Student Center. This discussion will explore authenticity, identity, leadership, and the power of personal storytelling. The celebration continues with the Women’s History Month Keynote, “An Open Love Letter,” at 5 PM in the Campus Center MPR. During this evening address, Oliver will share reflections on love, vulnerability, representation, and the importance of choosing oneself, offering an inspiring message about redefining success and self-worth. New Jersey Implements New CDL Medical Certification Process

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) today announced that the State of New Jersey has implemented the National Registry II (NRII). This enhancement allows for the electronic transfer of a medical examiner’s certification, required for commercial drivers, directly from medical providers to the NJMVC. It ensures a more efficient and seamless exchange of information for CDL holders.

Walter A. Kirk, Jr., 76, of Oaklyn

Walter A. Kirk, Jr., a longtime resident of Oaklyn, NJ passed away on February 9, 2026 at the age of 76.

Walt was the beloved son of the late Walter and Josephine Kirk.  He is the loving and devoted brother of Catherine (Lawrence) Kirk-Chase and Joanne (Rick) Wood.  Adored uncle to Jacob and Jemma Chase.

Walt was raised in the Fairview section of Camden, NJ.  He was the owner of Delaware Valley Appraisal Company of Audubon, NJ and was also a business partner in Homes by G & K.  More recently, Walt earned his Juris Prudence degree which was a lifelong dream of his.

Funeral service and interment will be planned at a later date.

The Liberty Bells are back! It’s time for our annual awards-season celebration highlighting all of the people, places and things that make Philly so very, well, Philly. 

Unlike those Hollywood awards shows, the Liberty Bells are 100% people-powered.

That’s where you come in.

We’re currently seeking nominations in five categories. You can learn more about each category below. 

You have until March 13 to get your nominations in. We’ll tally up the submissions, name finalists and open up the public voting phase from March 23 through April 3.

Winners of the 2026 Liberty Bells will be announced during Visit Philadelphia’s 30th Anniversary Gala on May 14.
