Chandler, AZ – The College of New Jersey’s baseball team picked up a 9-4 win over Suffolk University on Friday afternoon at the Snedigar Field Complex. TCNJ, ranked No. 8 in Division III now stands at a perfect 8-0 under the guidance of rookie coach Dean Glus.

Suffolk drops to 0-1 on the year. With Friday’s victory, the Lions have extended their regular-season win streak to 19 games as TCNJ’s last regular-season loss came on April 14, 2007 to Montclair State University (3-1).
TCNJ’s right handed junior pitcher Dan Anderson (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) picked up his second win in as many trips to the mound. Anderson allowed one unearned run off four hits and fanned four on the day. Anderson is now 2-0. He got three innings of relief from sophomore Greg Spatz (Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Township) picked up his second save after allowing three earned runs off four hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks.
TCNJ’s senior catcher Rich Gawlak (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) drove in four runs for the Lions and was 2-5 on the day. He got additional offensive support from senior outfielder Dave Mebs (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) who was 3-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and added a triple and a stolen base.
TCNJ returns to action on Saturday, facing Keene State College in a double header starting at 11:00 a.m. (PST).
