A state appeals court has upheld a local judge’s decision that Julio Colon (DOB 6/8/87), of Newark NJ, sentenced to consecutive five-year prison terms after pleading guilty in 2011 to drug and weapon possession charges, was not ineffectively represented by his lawyer when he pled.
Colon’s lawyer should have argued for a concurrent sentence on the charges, his appeal contended.
