Health Committee Advances Bill to Ensure Clear, State-Based Vaccine Guidance

Legislation sponsored by Asw. Murphy focuses on access to recommended childhood immunizations
(TRENTON) – The Assembly Health Committee advanced legislation aimed at strengthening New Jersey’s public health infrastructure by ensuring clear, science-based vaccine guidance statewide. Bill A6166, sponsored by Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, aims to support vaccine access and reduce confusion for families and providers.
The legislation would require health insurers and the State Medicaid Program to provide coverage, without cost sharing, for expenses incurred in the provision of childhood immunizations recommended by the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH). The DOH would be required to consider guidance from the federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, as well as recommendations from nationally recognized medical organizations, including pediatricians, family physicians, and obstetricians.
“When it comes to childhood immunizations, families deserve clarity and confidence,” said Assemblywoman Murphy (D-Burlington), Chair of the Assembly Health Commmittee. “This bill would ensure New Jersey can rely on trusted, evidence-based guidance from our public health experts so children can continue to receive recommended vaccines without unnecessary barriers.”
By aligning insurance coverage with guidance issued by the DOH, the bill is intended to provide families, health care providers, and pharmacists with clear and consistent direction, particularly when federal policies change or conflict.

Minneapolis Woman Shot and Killed by ICE Agent

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (January 7, 2026)(CNBNews)–A confortation in Minneapolis between a woman and a federal ICE agent ended tragically with the woman being shot and killed.

According to a spokesman for ICE the woman allegedly tried to run over the agent. She was shot, said Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin when she allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers during an immigration crackdown in Minneapolis.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot the woman in her vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, spokeswoman McLaughlin said in a statement.

After the shooting, Mayor Jacob Frey said immigration agents were “causing chaos in our city.”

“We are demanding ICE leave the city and state immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities,” Frey said on social media, reported POLITICO.

The area where the shooting occurred is a modest neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, just a few blocks from some of the oldest immigrant markets in the area and a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.

Delbert McLain smiled at the sign in Marvin Pincus’s yard as he walked briskly up to the front door and knocked. Marvin had seen him coming and opened it with a big smile and a handshake.

“Delbert! I’ve got to tell you I’ve really been looking forward to seeing what kind of flies we can tie up to improve your love life. You want some coffee?”

“Love life?” Del said. “Oh not today, Marvin, not today. I’m here on chamber business. Yessir.”

Delbert McLain is our Chamber of Commerce. We have all designated him … well … okay, I guess Del kinda designated himself to let the world know we adore progress, our community is the healthiest, safest and most prosperous place to raise children or crops or make widgets.
