Brauhaus Schmitz Brings Munich to Philly

Philadelphia, PA – Brauhaus Schmitz, located at 718 South Street, will bring the sights, sounds and tastes of Munich to the Philadelphia region at two of Pennsylvania’s largest Oktoberfest celebrations. First up, get ready to raise a liter and dance in the street as South Street Oktoberfest returns for its 18th year on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, on the 700 block of South Street. The all-day, all-ages celebration attracts around 10,000 people and features a biergarten for over 1,000 people, live oom-pah music all day, German dancers, the liter lift competition, a dozen German beers, signature Bavarian dishes, face painting, outdoor games, family fun and much more. Two weeks later, they saved the best for last as one of the most authentic celebrations in the United States returns with the 8th Annual 23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest, on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, 2026, with three afternoon and evening sessions.

Former CBRNE Task Force Director Arrested

Cape May Court House, New Jersey – Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Daniel Holt announces the arrest of Anthony Robinson, 67, of Lower Township, New Jersey, following a lengthy investigation conducted by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit. Robinson was previously employed by the County of Cape May as the Director of the CBRNE Task Force. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered Robinson created and utilized a Limited Liability Company (LLC) to conduct HAZMAT related trainings to various fire departments and/or companies within the County of Cape May. The departments would be billed by the LLC, even though the trainings were also grant funded by the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant on the same various dates.

Jefferson Stratford Free Food Pantry & Health Fair Helps Families Get Ready for School

In August, Jefferson Stratford Hospital hosted dozens of families for a free community food pantry and health fair on their campus at 18 Laurel Road East, Stratford, NJ 08084.

Designed to help local families prepare for the start of a new school year, the food pantry and health fair provided access to nutritious food boxes donated by the South Jersey Food Bank, free school supplies (pencils, notebooks, erasers, highlighters, scissors and rulers) donated by Jefferson-East employees and access to healthcare resources, including representatives from Jefferson Health’s departments of primary care, weight management, infection prevention, food and nutrition, obstetrics & gynecology, Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

“For many households, the weeks leading up to the school year can be financially challenging,” said Aaron Chang, President of Jefferson Health-East. “Jefferson’s community food pantry and health fair was designed to ease that burden by providing access to essential resources while connecting residents with healthcare professionals and community organizations dedicated to improving health and well-being.”

On Friday, August 28 we were in Deptford Township at the NJ Motor Vehicle Inspection station. We left there at 1 PM and headed to the nearby Walmart Super Center. A mile away we spotted what we thought at first was a dog standing in the underbrush about 10 yards from the busy highway. Curious, we turned around and stopped on the other side of the street and began filming. All those years I hunted it became a habit of mind to glance at the fields and the woodline that I passed in my travels.

Every few seconds this animal lifted its head up and took a gander around the field it was standing in. With its black and tan coat it blended perfectly into the vegetation.

Lower Twp. Shooting Investigation

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Donald Vanaman of the Lower Township Police Department announce that on August 29, 2026, at approximately 10:37 p.m., officers from the Lower Township Police Department responded to the area of the Mulligan Sports Complex located in the Villas section of Lower Township, New Jersey, for the report of multiple gunshots. It should be noted that no individuals were struck by any bullets.

An investigation conducted by the Lower Township Police Department Detective Bureau and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit identified the suspect of this incident as 20-year old Leshaun Davis.

Bucks, Chester DAs Urge Emergency Kratom Ban

On the first day of school for many Pennsylvania students, Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan and Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe today sent formal letters to Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen, urging the Department of Health to immediately exercise its emergency powers to schedule 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) and related kratom derivatives as controlled substances under state law.

The urgent request comes as students return to school amidst a growing proliferation of potent kratom-derived synthetic products being sold over the counter at smoke shops, gas stations, and other local retailers. Products containing 7-OH, a concentrated alkaloid found naturally in trace amounts in the Southeast Asian plant kratom, produce opioid-like effects on the body comparable to morphine or heroin. Despite these risks, 7-OH is frequently marketed without age restrictions and packaged as gummies, vapes, and candy bars specifically designed to appeal to minors.
