
William I. McCray, 26, of Monroe Township, who was charged with 26 counts including sexual assault and manufacturing child sexual abuse material against multiple minor victims, pled guilty to five of those charges today before the honorable Renard L. Scott, Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns announced.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court: In October 2025 a minor victim reported to police that McCray had sexually assaulted them. A search warrant was subsequently obtained and executed on McCray’s residence where CDS, drug paraphernalia, and multiple cellular phones were found.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit assisted the Monroe Township Police Department in a forensic analysis of the electronic devices, where they found more than 100 images and 40 video files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
A second victim was identified in the files and subsequently interviewed, disclosing they had also been assaulted by McCray.
Additional victims were also identified in the photos, videos, and chat messages. McCray was arrested at his residence on Dec. 3, 2025.

He pled guilty to first-degree manufacturing CSAM, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree possession of CSAM, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
The state will recommend as sentence of 15 years in state prison, of which he must serve 85% before becoming eligible for parole, plus an additional 3 years to be served consecutively, as well as lifetime parole supervision, registration as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, and no contact with any of his victims. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 13, 2026.
“This plea agreement reflects the strength of the evidence and ensures the defendant will serve a lengthy prison sentence for these serious offenses. While no outcome can undo the harm caused to the victims, today’s plea delivers accountability and justice,” Prosecutor Johns said. “I commend the investigators and prosecutors whose work made this resolution possible. I also commend the bravery of the victim who came forward, leading to today’s guilty plea.”

Prosecutor Johns credited detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, High Tech Crimes Unit, the Gloucester County SWAT Team and the Monroe Township Police Department for the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea.
