Joann Marie

On Saturday, May 11th, we lost our mother and friend. Surrounded by family members, including children, sisters, nephews and nieces, Joann Marie Yourkonis (nee Clark) ended her battle with lung cancer and went to be with the Lord.

Joann was a very loving and giving woman. She opened her home to several family and friends to live in, when hardship fell upon them. She wanted to help everyone. She was funny and was a joy to make laugh. She took pleasure in the small things of life. Even with the battle of lung cancer, she immensely enjoyed the last several months of her life.

Joann was the beloved wife of the late James T. Yourkonis. She will be dearly missed by her children, Paul Gallagher, James Yourkonis Jr., ChristopherYourkonis and Lisa Bowen and her five grandchildren. She is survived by her two sisters Doris Skotnicki and Lil Goglin. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:00noon at St. Mary’s RC Church, 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 12:00 noon at the Church.

Interment to follow at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. There will be no evening viewing. In lieu of flowers the family has requested Memorial Donations in Mrs. Yourkonis’ name be made to the American Cancer Society 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Etherington-Creran Funeral Home, Gloucester City.
