Funeral Services Set For Corrections Officer Isiah Hampton Watkins

Family, friends, officials, and first responders from throughout the region will be attending a Celebration of Life service for Camden County Corrections Officer Isiah Hampton Watkins on Thursday, March 26 at Bethany Baptist Church (1115 E Gibbsboro Rd, Lindenwold, 08021) at interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery (1640 Haddon Ave, Camden, 08103) at 4 p.m. The procession from the church to the cemetery will pass the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Officer Watkins, 36, passed away on March 10, after suffering a medical emergency while traveling to the Camden County Correctional Facility to begin his tour of duty. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, he tragically passed away shortly thereafter. Officer Watkins was known for his professionalism and commitment to the safety of the residents and coworkers of the Camden County Correctional Facility. As a son of Gloucester Township, he dedicated himself to being of service to his community and pursuing a career in law enforcement.

“Our corrections officers do the hard work that often goes unseen, and Officer Watkins was a young man in the prime of his life and career,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Department of Corrections. “This is a truly devastating loss, and I extend my most sincere condolences to Officer Watkins’ family, friends, and to his broader family – the Camden County Department of Corrections.”

The Camden County Board of Commissioners, the Camden County Department of Corrections, residents, community stakeholders, and partners extend their heartfelt condolences to Officer Watkins’ family. In remembrance of Officer Watkins, department flags at the Federal Street facility will remain at half-staff until the conclusion of the funeral services.
