Closure and detour necessary to complete drainage repairs

The I-76 westbound Exit 1D ramp to Route 130 northbound closure and detour has been extended until late April in Gloucester City, Camden County.
The I-76 westbound Exit 1D ramp to Route 130 northbound was closed and detoured on January 19 and was originally expected to be complete in late March. The work was delayed by severe winter weather, including major storms in January and February.
The ramp becomes the right lane on Route 130 northbound, which is also closed for approximately 0.1 miles. One lane on Route 130 northbound is being maintained, and the left exit from Route 130 northbound to I-76 westbound/Walt Whitman/Ben Frankin Bridge remains open.
The closure is necessary to replace a collapsed corrugated metal drainage pipe with a ductile iron pipe. As part of the repair, sheeting was installed to support the sound wall during construction. Work has been taking place 24 hours a day, seven days a week other than when severe weather prevented work from taking place. The closure will remain in place until late April 2026. If work is completed earlier, the ramp will reopen sooner. The following detour will remain in place:
I-76 westbound Exit 1D to Route 130 northbound Detour:
- Motorists on I-76 westbound/Route 42 northbound wishing to take Exit 1D to Route 130 northbound will be directed to take Exit 1B/I-295 northbound/Trenton, which is approximately 1.25 miles before Exit 1D
- Stay right to continue onto I-295 northbound
- Take Exit 28/Route 168/Bellmawr/Runnemede/Mt Ephraim
- Turn left onto Route 168/Black Horse Pike northbound
- Take the ramp to Route 130 northbound
The work is part of a $7.1 million stormwater maintenance contract that will make repairs and improvements to drainage facilities in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties.
