Camden Man Fatally Stabbed Girlfriend 

Detectives have determined that a Camden man fatally stabbed his girlfriend in Lindenwold before committing suicide, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Lindenwold Police Chief Michael McCarthy.

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 11:39 a.m., detectives with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the 500 block of Bilper Avenue in Lindenwold for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, detectives located the victim – 53-year-old Marlene Carmichael of Lindenwold – suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:22 p.m.

During the investigation, detectives identified the victim’s boyfriend, 64-year-old Harry Gibbs of Camden, as the individual responsible for the stabbing.

At approximately 3:23 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the 1100 block of MacArthur Drive in Camden for a male in a vehicle who had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male – identified as Gibbs – was then transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 3:56 p.m. Detectives recovered the firearm as well as a knife that was later determined to have been used in the Lindenwold stabbing.

There is no active threat to the public. No further information is being released at this time.
