A jury has convicted a Camden man for sexually abusing two children over the course of nearly a decade, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Miguel A. Mota, 41, was found guilty on July 21, 2026, of four counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault.
He was also convicted of three counts of second-degree Sexual Assault, three counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of third-degree Aggravated Sexual Contact, one count of third-degree Terroristic Threats, and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact. The verdict was returned after a four-week jury trial in Camden County Superior Court.
In April 2020, the Camden County Police Department began an investigation into Mota after a female member of his household reported the abuse. Detectives determined that Mota sexually abused the victim on various dates between November 2010 and April 2020 when the child was between the ages of 7 and 16. Mota was initially charged on April 8, 2020.
In July 2024, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office learned that a second female member of the household reported being sexually abused by Mota. It was determined that Mota abused the second victim on various dates between December 2010 and April 2020 when the child was between the ages of 5 and 14. Additional charges were filed against Mota on July 30, 2024.
During the trial, both victims testified about the abuse they suffered throughout their childhoods. Upon the jury’s verdict, Mota was immediately remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility to await sentencing on September 25, 2026. Mota had been previously released by the court on pre-trial monitoring following a detention hearing.
