MAHONEY, William (Bill) On February 14, 2009 of Bellmawr, formerly of Camden. Age 86. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Besso). Devoted father of Elaine Kennedy (Harold), Kathleen Donlin (Brendon), Michele Slivak (Michael), and William Mahoney (Suzanne). Loving grandpop of Krista, Jonathan, Matthew, Leah, Caitlin, Michael, and Sadie. Brother Bill to Charmaine Wilson, Jeannette Born (Ray), Sister Elaine Mahoney, O.S.F., James Mahoney (Shirley), and the late June Langan, Michael, Joseph, Charles, and John Mahoney.

Bill served in the Pacific in World War II with his five brothers, and was a proud member of VFW Posts Bellmawr and Runnemede\’s award winning dart league. A lifelong member and former President of Ironworkers Local Union #401 (PA), Bill taught the apprentice Ironworkers class for many years. Life member of Bellmawr Fire Company #1 since 1958 with 51 years of active service. Charter member of the Rio Fishing Club and Hibernian Club. Bill was a prolific reader and loved gardening. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He attended their sporting events, plays and other activities. He was a wonderful man who loved life, God, his family and his country. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him – to know him was to love him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing from 7 to 9pm Thursday evening and Friday morning from 9:15am to 10:15am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass Friday morning 11am Annunciation BVM Church, Bellmawr. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Bill\’s memory to Wachovia Bank, Rt. 130, Brook-lawn, NJ 08030 for the Education Fund for his adored grandchildren.
