Boothwyn is true home of rock ’n’ roll

What brought out D’Amico’s pride in his old hometown was an article he read saying that a little burg in New Jersey, Gloucester City, was the birth place of Rock ’n’ Roll.
 
\”You can add Gloucester City to Memphis, Cleveland, Hattiesburg, Galveston and Tupelo, all of which claim that distinction,\” D’Amico said. \”But as far as I’m concerned, the honor belongs to Boothwyn. Haley lived there from 1929 until 1960 and attended the one-room Chelsea School. He dropped out of school after the eighth grade and made his first paying appearance while still a kid at the Boothwyn Farmer’s Market.\”
