The University of Scranton plans to no longer include coverage for abortion in cases of rape, incest, and for the mother’s life in the University’s faculty and staff health care plans, according to an announcement from President Father Kevin Quinn, S.J., recently posted on the Jesuit university’s website. He explained that as a Catholic university, it must work to be consistent in light of all the Church’s moral teachings.
The University has provided coverage for such cases of abortion since the 1990s, reportedly \”to comply with the limits of Pennsylvania state law for traditional insurance plans.\” However, Fr. Quinn maintained that \”because the University is self insured we can, and therefore must, offer insurance plans that are free of all abortion coverage.\”

\”Home visits by a nurse, social worker, or early childhood educator during pregnancy and in the first years of life can make a tremendous difference in the lives of many children and their families,\” said Secretary Burwell. \”Today’s awards give states the flexibility to tailor their home visiting programs to address the specific needs of the communities they serve.\”

To part the sea of red ink engulfing New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie may need a miracle of biblical proportions.
On the cusp of next week’s annual budget address by the governor, the challenges are even greater than those detailed in the State Treasury’s debt report for the past fiscal year.

Brother and sister Nathan and Eva Leach perform a wonderful cover of the song \”Hero\” from indie rock band Family of the Year. What I like so much about this music video is it shows us that you don’t have to have a fancy recording studio and be a big name rock star to provide great entertainment for others.. Nathan and Eva filmed this in their kitchen and by keeping it simple they’ve produced a music video that has gone viral. ~Big Geek Daddy
