Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia Zoo is partnering with ODUNDE365 to bring a weekend of African culture, dance and crafts to the Zoo! This event, hosted Saturday, August 8 11:00am-3:00pm, continues the celebration of South Philly’s Annual Odunde Festival, the largest African American street festival and celebration of its kind in the country. Guests are welcome to attend special performances, crafts and learn how to play a drum during a Odunde365 drumming class! The Reading Captains will also be in attendance giving out themed books during the event. African Culture Fest is included with Zoo admission or membership.
Hundreds of runners will take on the most iconic bridge in America to raise money for Students Run Philly Style. After attracting hundreds of runners and raising money earlier this spring, Yards Brewing and Philadelphia Distance Run are teaming up again for the last Yards Bridge Run of the year on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Runners of all faces and all paces are invited to join this special night of community, running, giving back and food/drink. Founded in 2014 by longtime Yards employee Keith Zonderwyk, the Yards Bridge Runs have spent more than a decade bringing together runners, beer lovers, and members of Philadelphia’s vibrant fitness community. What began as a casual gathering among friends has grown into a beloved local tradition, combining exercise, community, and philanthropy.
Philadelphia’s largest neighborhood summer festival is back and bigger than ever! The Northern Liberties Arts & Commerce Alliance announces the 16th Annual 2nd Street Festival on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 12:00pm Noon to 10:00pm. Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with 250+ restaurants, food trucks, beer gardens, family fun, live music, artists, pop-up shops and entertainment. Street food and summertime sips will be available from a giant list of 50+ restaurants, bars, breweries and food trucks, including 10 outdoor beer and cocktail gardens. Get ready to dance (and rock) in the street with live music and DJs on two main stages. Enjoy 14 blocks of non-stop activities along N. 2nd and connecting side streets, from Spring Garden all the way to Girard. Look for food, drink and retail specials at merchants along the famed commercial corridor. The event is no charge and open to the public. 2nd Street Festival is family friendly, and four-legged friends that are well-behaved and on leashes are also welcome. Supported through SoccerFest26 grant funding, the regional initiative has transformed parks, downtowns and community gathering spaces into destinations where fans can celebrate the world’s biggest sporting event together while supporting local businesses, boosting tourism and showcasing South Jersey as a vibrant host region.

Today, the Camden County Police Department will help children and families beat the summer heat with “Open Gym and Swim” at the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County – Marjorie & Lewis Katz Clubhouse in the Parkside neighborhood from 3- 5:30 p.m. Officers from the Community Outreach Unit will be in attendance to join residents as they swim, play, and enjoy free refreshments, music, and more. This event is the newest addition to the CCPD’s popular Village Initiative event lineup and will take place each Wednesday throughout the remainder of summer.
