WINSLOW TOWNSHIP November 21, 2014–Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Winslow Police Chief Robert Stimelski reported a Winslow police officer has been charged in connection with the shooting of a police vehicle.
Da’Shaun Carr, M/23, of Clayton, a part-time Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer with the Winslow Police Department, was charged Monday with third-degree False Public Alarms.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. October 3 at New Brooklyn Park in Winslow.
Carr had activated an emergency button in his patrol car and communicated by radio that his vehicle had been fired upon.
Officers from the Winslow Police Department, New Jersey State Police, Camden County Sheriff’s Office and Camden County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene and searched the area.
The Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene and found the patrol car had been shot once through the front windshield. Bullet fragments were recovered from inside the interior of the vehicle.
Investigators believe Carr used a personal handgun to shoot the vehicle once from the outside. Ballistic testing is being conducted by state police and the results are pending.
Carr was processed Wednesday and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date. He has been suspended without pay. He had been with the department for about a year.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

What an exciting Thanksgiving Day football game this year between cross town rivalries Gloucester City High School and Gloucester Catholic High. Nearing the end of the fourth quarter Gloucester High was winning 27-20. With 19 seconds left Gloucester Catholic got a TD, making the score 27-26. Instead of kicking a field goal Catholic went for two but was stopped by the Lions defense.

WOODBURY NJ (November 21, 2014)–Arrested while on bail and awaiting sentencing on trespass and theft charges, Marquise D. Ogawa (DOB 9/3/93), of Glassboro, today (11/21) was denied any reduction in his $25,000 bail on new charges of attempting to sell marijuana in the Glassboro Public Library on 11/13/14.
\”I do believe significant bail is appropriate,\” Superior Court Judge Kevin T. Smith said in denying Ogawa’s bail petition.
In opposing the bail reduction request, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Dana Anton pointed out that Ogawa’s arrest while on bail demonstrated his propensity for continued criminal activity. \”I’d say he should be at the top end of the range\” in bail for the offenses he now faces, Anton said.
Ogawa is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Smith 12/5 after pleading guilty to criminal trespass in Glassboro by breaking into an Academy Street building in Glassboro and \”remaining there for shelter\” and theft on 5/28/14 by possessing a 50-inch television in Glassboro that belonged to someone else.
In the most recent case, Ogawa was arrested in a bathroom of the Glassboro Public Library after complaints of drug activity in the building. He is charged with possessing more than an ounce of marijuana with intent to distribute.

WOODBURY NJ (November 20, 2014)Shawne A. Grant (DOB 4/28/71), of Pitman, pleaded guilty today (11/20) to second-degree sexual assault and absconding from parole in connection with a 7/28/13 incident involving a boy under age 13 in Pitman.
In a negotiated plea, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Margaret Cipparrone will recommend that Grant be sentenced to six years in New Jersey state prison on the sexual assault and a concurrent four year term for the parole violation. The six-year sentence will require that Grant serve 85 percent of the prison term before becoming eligible for parole.

New Jersey Department of Health Commemorates National Hospice and Palliative Care Month
In observance of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of the first hospice in the United States, New Jersey Health Commissioner Mary E. O\’Dowd commends the work of palliative care and hospice services providers throughout the Garden State and encourages New Jerseyans to plan ahead for the treatment and care they would prefer near the end of life.
Bringing the topic of end-of-life care into the national discourse and raising public understanding of the hospice mission to help patients and their families deal with advanced illness have been the focus of the hospice community since the first hospice opened its doors in Connecticut in 1974.
