Obituary: Joseph M. Prota, age 59 of Williamstown


On September 18, 2014. After a long illness and in the loving and devoted care of his wife, Lesa M. (nee Dottoli) who has been together since 1999. Beloved brother of Robert Prota (Sandra) and Christina Cortopassi (Paul). Cherished step-father of Kristen Mickle (Jeff) and Joseph DiSilvestro. Loving Son-In-Law of Carmen Dottoli and Betty Lovenduski. Dear Brother-In-Law of Brenda Scott (Walt), Carmen Dottoli, II and Steven Dottoli (Carmella). Joe was born in Staten Island, NY and was a resident of Williamstown since 2004. He worked from 1984-2004 with PATCO doing track maintenance and has been with the DRPA from 2004 until present day as a construction and maintenance laborer. Joe loved the New York Giants Football team and will be remembered for always lending a hand to anyone in need and having a smile on his face. 

 Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, (at Brown Street) Gloucester City. Religious Service 11 am officiated in the funeral home by Pastor Claude from Laurel Hill Bible Church. 

Cremation private.

Armed Robbery in Arborwood Condos; Suspect Apprehended

On Saturday September 2, 2014 at 12:40 am Lindenwold Police were dispatched to the 2800 building of Arborwood Condos (511 E.Gibbsboro Road Lindenwold, NJ) for a report of an armed robbery. On arrival the Victim, a 46 yr old black male, stated the incident happened at 12:25 am as he was leaving his apartment. He was walking to his delivery truck when he was approached by tall thin black male with a handgun. The male put the gun to the Victim head and demanded he turn over everything he had. The Victim surrendered his cell phone, along with a business credit card which he retrieved from his truck. The male then struck him in the face and ran off.

A Nine Hour SWAT Incident in West Deptford Ends with a Suicide

A methodical, nine-hour effort by Gloucester County\’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit began with a gunshot inside a West Deptford Township NJ townhouse shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday (9/22).

After repeated attempts to communicate with the shooter, detect his location with mobile robotic units inside the two-story and basement dwelling and deployment of irritant gas to force him out of the residence, a SWAT team entered the structure and found his body in a basement closet at 11:24 p.m.

27 arrested in statewide insurance fraud sweep

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced the arrest of 27 individuals across the Commonwealth for a variety of unrelated insurance fraud offenses.
The recent sweep was the result of investigations by the Office of Attorney General\’s Insurance Fraud Section, the largest law enforcement entity in Pennsylvania with specific authority to investigate and prosecute such crimes.

\”Insurance fraud is one of the most costly white-collar crimes in America today, with estimated losses in the billions of dollars annually,\” Attorney General Kane said. \”This sweep demonstrates the severe penalties for committing these crimes, which increases costs for everyone, including seniors.\”

CNB Hunting/Fishing News: DNREC Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Blotter Sept. 9-15

 

DOVER (Sept. 19, 2014) – To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Natural Resources Police officers between Sept. 9-15 made 765 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public, including 74 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Agents responded to 29 complaints and issued 19 citations. This week, with an expanded Fish and Wildlife Enforcement presence continuing to be deployed as a deterrent, no citations were issued at the C&D Canal Conservation Area and associated recreational trail currently under construction.
