New students welcome

VOORHEES, NJ — July 18, 2013 — Do you know a Camden County adult who could benefit from free one-on-one tutoring in reading or math? Literacy Volunteers of Camden County offers free instruction to residents whose skills are below 6^th grade level.

Times and locations vary, but could involve meeting at a local library or the One Stop Career Center in Camden. If you, or someone you know, has been struggling with reading or math, Literacy Volunteers would like to help. Call Wendy Dawson at 856-968-4267 to get more information.

Gloucester Township Police Crime Stoppers- Vehicle Burglaries: Valley Brook & Hilltop on Saturday July 20, 2013 at approximately 1 AM. Four white males were captured on video in the Valley Brook Development trying the doors of vehicles and entering the unlocked ones. Various items and US Currency was stolen. All the suspects appear to be in their late teens or early 20\’s. Two of the suspects wore reflective sneakers.

A few days after a jury acquitted George Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was busy exploiting the trial outcome by attacking \”stand‑your‑ground\” self-defense laws.

As reported by Fox News, during a speech at the NAACP\’s annual convention, Holder said, \”Separate and apart from the case that has drawn the nation\’s attention, it\’s time to question laws that senselessly expand the concept of self-defense and sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods.\”

In response to Holder\’s remarks, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox had this to say: \”The attorney general fails to understand that self-defense is not a concept, it\’s a fundamental human right. To send a message that legitimate self-defense is to blame is unconscionable, and demonstrates once again that this administration will exploit tragedies to push their political agenda.\”

Holder and the Obama administration will surely continue to push to overturn \”stand your ground\” self-defense laws in the future. Rest assured NRA-ILA will be there to fight them. We will continue to work to protect self-defense laws currently on the books and advocate for their passage in those states that do not fully respect this fundamental right.

TRENTON, July 18, 2013—The executive director of the New Jersey School Boards Association thanked Governor Christie for today’s veto of Senate Bill 2163, which would have given tenure-like protection to non-teaching staff members.

 On July 16, 2013 at approximately 9:10 PM an 18 year old male parked his bicycle in front of the Gloucester Township Municipal Building to conduct business at the Police Department Watch Desk. While the victim was inside the building, a black male suspect, later identified as 25 year old Pradell Hedgepath of Clementon Borough, stole the bicycle and rode away on it.

EDITOR’S NOTE–Recently we published an article titled \”Blight is Spreading in Gloucester City\”. As a follow up to that article we wanted to know what steps the city of Gloucester has taken to fight that problem. As we dug deeper, we learned more and more about the monstrous task that the city’s Housing Office is faced with each day. 

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–(cnbnews.net)Housing Officer Joseph Stecklair, said Gloucester City has an approximate 300 abandoned properties that have fallen in disrepair. According to Stecklair, his office sent out 200 letters in May to violators of Chapter 25, the Brush, Weeds and Debris law.

Beloved son of Barbara Boskey (nee Gudanowski) and the late Ronald Boskey Sr. Devoted brother of Ron Boskey Jr (Michelle) and Barbara Boskey. Loving uncle of Brad and Ryan. Also survived by aunts, uncle, cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm.

Funeral Service 8pm at the funeral home.

Interment private at the request of the family.
