FRANCO, ALFONSO N.

Born May 9th 1966, Alfonso passed away at his home in Gloucester City on July 1 2013, at the age of 47.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Franco (nee Burr), son William Wames, daughter Amanda Frazier and granddaughter Jasmine. Alfonso is also survived by six brothers and sisters Janet and Earl Robertshawl, Pat and Rosemary Franco, Mike and Joann Franco, Kim and Steve Esposito, Debbie and Gerard Vanlienden and Charlotte and Mike Matera; and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

We will all miss our beloved Alfonso and we accept that his soul is now free in heaven.

His funeral service was private at the request of his family. Arrangements were entrusted to the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ

Gloucester Catholic Welcomes New Director of Catholic Identity

Bishop Dennis Sullivan has appointed Rev. Allain Caparas (photo) as Gloucester Catholic Director of Catholic Identity. In this new full-time position, Father Caparas will serve as chaplain and will coordinate retreats and liturgies, as well as teach several religion classes.

Father Caparas is excited to join the faculty. \”What a privilege it is to become part of the GCHS community! I look forward in helping our students grow in love with Jesus and our Catholic Faith.\”

Father brings with him three years of teaching experience at Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, New Jersey. He is a graduate of Seton Hall University and Saint Charles Seminary, where he earned his graduate degree in theology. Ordained a priest for seven years, Father Caparas currently serves as pastor of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Newfield.

Williamsport Resident Sentenced to 70 Months on Federal Tax Charges

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today $\"Lady_justice\"$ that Cheryl Cobia, age 27, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 70 months’ imprisonment by U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann on July 9, 2013, in U.S. District Court in Williamsport.

Cobia pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of conspiracy and false statements in connection with a scheme to file false federal income tax returns in 2009-2011. Cobia was also charged with making false statements in applications for food stamps and medical assistance benefits. Cobia and a co-conspirator used computers to create and file false tax returns seeking refunds totaling more than $1 million.

Third defendant sentenced in Blair County elder neglect case | cnbnews.net

HARRISBURG – A Blair County woman, who pled guilty in March to neglect of a care-dependent person, was sentenced this morning to three years probation and a $400 fine.

Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane identified the defendant as Marjory Koch, 44, 318 Lotz Ave., Altoona. Koch was originally charged in September 2012 with neglect of a care-dependent person. She was employed in 2011 as a caregiver at Warner\’s Home for the Aged, 1100 14th Ave., Altoona.

Pennsylvania Man Sentenced to 102 Month Prison Term on Terrorism Charges

WASHINGTON—July 16, 2013 Emerson Winfield Begolly, 24, of New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was $\"Images\"$ sentenced today in Pittsburgh to 102 months in prison for soliciting others to engage in acts of terrorism within the United States and for using a firearm during and in relation to an assault on FBI agents.

In addition, he was sentenced to serve five years’ supervised release. Begolly pleaded guilty August 9, 2011, to charges filed in the Eastern District of Virginia and the Western District of Pennsylvania.

The sentence was announced by David J. Hickton, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania; Neil H. MacBride, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; John P. Carlin, Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security; Valerie Parlave, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office; and Gary Perdue, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Division.

Three Involved in the Kidnapping and Murder of Atlantic City Woman Plead Guilty

CAMDEN, NJ—Three Atlantic City, New Jersey residents today admitted their roles in the kidnapping and death of a 20-year-old Atlantic City woman, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Shameria Smith, 26; Aziz Sanders, 20; and Deshawn Hicks, 21, each pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joseph H. Rodriguez to separate, one-count informations charging them with use of a firearm and aiding and abetting the use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence—specifically, the Hobbs Act robbery and kidnapping that resulted in the death of Nadirah Ruffin.
