Police officers and supporters gathered in Hollywood, California, over the weekend to show support for law-enforcement officers nationwide.

\”There’s something weird and scary going on right now – police are being assassinated,\” said demonstrator Annie Bergin, 34, of Los Angeles, who held up a \”They bleed blue\” poster. \”I’m here to show that I strongly support the LAPD and law enforcement officers everywhere who risk their lives each day to keep us safe.\”

\”This is just the beginning of a nationwide campaign,\” said Jerretta Sandoz, vice president of the 10,000-member Police Protection League. \”We’ve reached out to police unions in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and many other cities, and they are all on board.

\”Now, we’re searching for a unifying catch phrase and symbol that will send this message: Enough is enough,\” she said. \”There’s just too much negativity throughout the country related to police work.\”

John Redican, a patrol officer with the LAPD’s Newton Division, agreed.

\”Police are being marginalized and demonized by a small segment of society with views that are magnified by the media,\” Redican said. \”This event is an attempt to mitigate that perception by showing that a majority of people understand that we are out there trying to keep the wolves away from our doors.\”

Reminder for the week: Visitors must obey speed limit when driving on wildlife area roadways

DOVER (Sept. 25, 2015) – To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Sept. 14-20 made 1,580 contacts with anglers, boaters, hunters and the general public, including 188 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Officers responded to 61 complaints and issued 53 citations, one of which was related to the C&D Canal Conservation Area and associated recreational trail, where there is an increased Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police presence.

 Incidents of particular note:

(New York, N.Y. – Sept. 28, 2015) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today proposed adding the former Kil-Tone Company site in Vineland, N.J. to its Superfund list of the country’s most hazardous waste sites. Pesticides were manufactured at the now defunct Kil-Tone Company facility, and groundwater and soil at the site, including soil in the yards of nearby homes, is contaminated with arsenic and lead.

\”The EPA is committed to protecting residents and workers from the high levels of arsenic and lead at this site,\” said Judith A. Enck, EPA Regional Administrator. \”By adding this site to the Superfund list, the EPA moves forward in its commitment to do extensive sampling needed to determine the best way to clean up the contamination.\”

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA: Escape. On Sept. 28, 2015, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Adam Snatchko (AKA Patrick Norris), 43, of Canonsburg, returned to the Riverside Community Corrections Center from an authorized leave. He appeared to be under the influence of drugs. When Snatchko discovered that he would be drug tested, he fled the facility through an unlocked side door.
