I recently asked Gloucester City Mayor Bill James what accomplishments he and members of City Council (Bill Hagan, Jay Brophy, Nick Marchese, Bruce Parry, John Hutchinson, and Kellie Ferry) would list during their tenure in office if given the chance.
Looking at the list I am amazed at how much these seven individuals have done in the short time in office. James, Hagan, Marchese and Brophy were elected 29 months ago. Parry, Hutchinson and Ferry were elected 17 months ago.
We take for granted that the position they hold of mayor and city councilman/woman is a part-time job. One that doesn\’t pay very much. Yet they are required to attend three meetings a month along with numerous events throughout the year. What do they get in return? In most cases a lot of lip from their constituents along with the satisfaction they are making a difference.
Be it the James administration or any previous city/council administration I tip my hat to all of you for your sacrifices. The job you hold is a thankless one. No matter what you do you will always have someone mad at you.
Here is the list of items.
