Bridge Manager Then Moved To Cruise Terminal Post
CAMDEN, N.J. – A Delaware River Port Authority employee who was suspended for a month after borrowing toll money to cover party costs was later moved to a job running a cruise terminal that\’s not currently receiving ships, sources tell Fox 29 News. At the time, John Havers ran the Commodore Barry Bridge, which spans the Delaware River between the city of Chester and Gloucester County. The last known salary information Fox 29 News has obtained is that Havers was being paid $102,500 in that post back in 2007. Fox 29\’s Steve Keeley reported that, according to sources, a catered party called a \”safety open house\” ran over budget about a year-and-a-half ago, and the way Havers apparently paid for this was to dip into cash from collected tolls.
