What was thought could’ve been a close game ended via the 10-run as Japan defeated Tennessee 12-2 to win the 2012 Little League World Series.

Kotaro Kiyomiya led Japan from the mound, throwing four innings while only allowing one run—a home run to Tennessee’s Brock Myers. That was the only hit of the day off of Kiyomiya as he also struck out eight. Noriatsu Osaka allowed a home run to Lorenzo Butler in the fifth inning, but that was all that Tennessee could strike for.

Osaka was the MVP from the plate as he went 4-for-4 with three home runs, including a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Japan wins their eighth Little League World Series behind a perfect 5-0 record in Williamsport, Pa.

Zemanta Power User – Bill Cleary of CNBNewsnet

07/25/2012 by Nenad Senic

We’re proud to present Bill Cleary as our Power User of the week! Bill is the founder and owner of CNBNews. A few years ago, CNBNews helped capture a bank robber. This isn’t your regular Z-Blog interview, instead we asked Bill a few questions and let him respond the best way he can – by writing a story his own way. Buckle up, this is a reading adventure.

THE ZEMANTA PROGRAM GIVES ME ‘A SECOND SET OF HANDS’

Let me introduce myself, I am the former owner, publisher and editor of the Gloucester City News Inc., (GCN) a weekly newspaper. The Gloucester City News, located in Gloucester City NJ, was incorporated in 1929. Our family owned the paper from 1948 to 2005. We also owned the Camden County Record, a weekly with circulation in the City of Camden NJ.

From the time I was a little guy I wanted to be a reporter. I started my newspaper career in 1966 at the age of 21. In 1978 my father retired an I was named editor of both newspapers. My wife Connie and I brought the Gloucester City News in 1985. Although we no longer own it, I still write a weekly column for the Gloucester City News.

Looking for another avenue to express my views we launched ClearysNoteBook (CNBNews.net) on July 31, 2006. It was touch and go in the very beginning as I knew nothing about building a website. Once I got the hang of it I had a ball. After all those years of running a weekly newspaper I could now write a breaking news story that would be viewed immediately across the wide world web. I was amazed that I could easily build a photo album loaded with pictures of a football game. The idea that I could shoot a video of a sporting event, or a parade and have it loaded on my site was also a thrill.

A few years ago CNBNews helped in the capture of a bank robber. Local police reached out to our news site with a photo of the suspect. Within hours the man was caught thanks in part to that alert posted on CNBNews.

CNBNews is a one man show. On a daily basis I view 200 emails looking for topics that are news worthy. I write commentary, edit copy submitted for posting, shoot photos and videos, design ads, talk with customers and so forth. In between I am posting 12 to 20 articles a day, seven days a week.

Helping me from the very beginning was Zemanta. In seconds their program is linking similar topics and images to my current article. In doing so my readers stay longer on our blog. Having the Zemanta program installed on my site gives me a second set of hands. Over the years Zemanta has saved me so much time it is unbelievable. I love Zemanta!

The Difference between a Watch and a Warning

Understanding the difference between National Weather Service watches and warnings is critical to being prepared for any dangerous weather hazard, including hurricanes.

A watch lets you know that weather conditions are favorable for a hazard to occur. It literally means \”be on guard!\” During a weather watch, gather awareness of the specific threat and prepare for action – monitor the weather to find out if severe weather conditions have deteriorated and discussed your protective action plans with your family.

Across the continent, there have been more tornado sightings than ever before so it is more important now than ever to pay attention to the tornado warning signs listed in this article.

A warning requires immediate action. This means a weather hazard is imminent – it is either occurring (a tornado has been spotted, for example) – or it is about to occur at any moment. During a weather warning, it is important to take action: grab the emergency kit you have prepared in advance and head to safety immediately. Both watches and warnings are important, but warnings are more urgent.

Hurricane / Tropical Storm Alerts

    • Tropical Storm Watch: An announcement that tropical-storm conditions are possible within the specified area.
    • Hurricane Watch: An announcement that hurricane conditions are possible within the specified area.

Because outside preparedness activities become difficult once winds reach tropical storm force, watches are issued 48 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds.

Action: During a watch, prepare your home and review your plan for evacuation in case a Hurricane or Tropical Storm Warning is issued. Listen closely to instructions from local officials.

    • Tropical Storm Warning: An announcement that tropical-storm conditions are expected within the specified area.
    • Hurricane Warning: An announcement that hurricane conditions are expected within the specified area.

Because outside preparedness activities become difficult once winds reach tropical storm force, warnings are issued 36 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds.

Action: During a warning, complete storm preparations and immediately leave the threatened area if directed by local officials.

  • Extreme Wind Warning – Extreme sustained winds of a major hurricane (115 mph or greater), usually associated with the eyewall, are expected to begin within an hour.

Action: Take immediate shelter in the interior portion of a well-built structure.

Additional Watches and Warnings may be issued to provide detailed information on specific threats such as floods and tornadoes. Local National Weather Service offices issue Flash Flood/Flood Watches and Warnings as well as Tornado Warnings.

Doctor May\’s License Suspended by NJ

NEWARK – The New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, within the State Division of Consumer Affairs, has temporarily suspended the license of Dr. Philip B. May, who is under investigation by the New Jersey Department of Human Services for allegedly conducting unauthorized research on patients with intellectual disabilities at the Hunterdon Developmental Center.
\”The alleged abuse of patients with intellectual disabilities, by a physician who was in a position of authority, are deeply troubling, and the Board of Medical Examiners was correct to act when the charges were filed,\” Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said.

May does not practice medicine privately, but worked at the Hunterdon Development Center until he was suspended without pay on August 3, 2012. The Department of Human Services is seeking his removal. May’s lawyers told the Board of Medical Examiners that he is also the subject of a criminal investigation, related to the same matter.

\”By taking this immediate action, the Board of Medical Examiners has helped ensure that a doctor who is suspended by his current employer, will not be able to begin practicing elsewhere in New Jersey until the Board members reach a final decision on the allegations,\” Eric T. Kanefsky, Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, said. \”We will continue to use all the tools available to ensure the public is safe from doctors who ignore their patients’ medical needs.\”

Under an Interim Consent Order with May, the Board noted that May voluntarily agreed to the temporary suspension of his medical license, and that the Board will adjourn any further disciplinary proceedings until the criminal investigation is resolved.

Consumers who believe they have been cheated or scammed by a business, or suspect any other form of consumer abuse, can file a complaint with the State Division of Consumer Affairs by visiting its website or by calling 1-800-242-5846 (toll free within New Jersey ) or 973-504-6200.
