PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 3, 2013) – Former Rutgers All-America running back Ray Rice started at running back for the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII as the Ravens captured their second Super Bowl with a 34-31 victory over San Francisco. Rice along with Alex Silvestro both captured Super Bowl rings, the first time in RU history two former players were on a Super Bowl winning squad.

Rutgers was just one of four schools nationally with at least two position starters on the two Super Bowl XLVII participating teams – the AFC Champion Baltimore Ravens and the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. The Scarlet Knights had two active players on the field in Super Bowl XLVII– the second-most in school history, trailing only last season with three players.
