HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 13, 2013) – For the fourth time in six games this season, the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball pitching staff struck out double-digit batters in a 10-2 victory over the City College of New York on Wednesday afternoon. Although the game was played at Dobbelaar Field, Stevens was the away team in the box score since the contest was originally scheduled at CCNY.
Eight different Ducks toed the rubber and combined for 11 strikeouts in nine innings. Sophomore Peirce Marston (Silver Spring, Md.) led the way by punching out the side in the third inning to earn the victory. Juniors Craig Leopold (Edison, N.J.) and Mark Poinsett (Ocean Gate, N.J.), and freshman Jayson Yano (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) each fanned two CCNY hitters in an inning of relief. Freshmen Bridger Cohen (Chester, N.J.) and Robert Robbins (Tallahassee, Fla.) accounted for the other two strike outs for Stevens.
