On Saturday September 13 the Camden County Board of Freeholders and the Addiction Awareness Task Force hosted a candlelight vigil to remember those we\’ve lost to addiction and to help raise awareness about the impact that this epidemic is having on our community. Over 350 people attended to remember their family, friends, and loved ones.
I write as a parent who lost her son to a heroin overdose, and also as a member of the Addiction Awareness Task Force. This event was one of the most moving and emotional events that I have had the honor of attending and participating in.
As we all are well aware, New Jersey\’s heroin epidemic is not going away anytime soon – we must join together to take a stand and do whatever is in our power to save lives and raise awareness of this disease and the impact it has on family members.
