Gloucester City PD Arrest 2 on Narcotic Charges

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ(November 11, 2014)–An ongoing investigation by the Gloucester City Police Department Detective Bureau and Patrol Division into the distribution of narcotics resulted in the arrest of $\"Audiosonic-1\"$ two suspects on Monday, November 10, 2014.

The arrests took place in the parking lot of CVS at 455 S. Broadway.

Taken into custody were Todd E. Zane (35) a resident of the 700 unit block of Division Street, and Shawn M. Stratton (34), a resident of the 900 unit block of Koehler Street.

Both suspects were charged with possession of CDS (prescription medication), distribution of CDS, distribution within 500\’ of a public park, distribution within 500\’ of a public building and conspiracy.

According to police both Zane and Stratton provided taped statements to detectives after their arrests detailing their involvement in the distribution of narcotics. Both were later remanded to Camden County Jail after failing to post bail.

The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Bike Officers Arrest Female Suspect, Charged with Burglary

On Tuesday November 4, 2014, GTPD bike officers conducted a Concentrated Proactive Patrol in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Brown Avenue due to reports of increased criminal activity, specifically car burglaries. At approximately 11:27 PM, a bicycle officer assigned to the detail observed a female attempting to gain access to several vehicles. The officer continued to observe the female until she entered a vehicle at which point the bicycle officer called in additional officers and successfully apprehended the female.

Motor Vehicle Crash with Motorized Wheel Chair Injures One Person

On Friday, November 7, 2014 at 5:17 PM, GTPD Officers responded to a report of a subject operating a motorized wheel chair in the middle of Peter Cheeseman Road. As they arrived in the area, they discovered that the operator was struck by a vehicle and was lying in the roadway. The striking vehicle and its operator, who was not injured, remained on location. The operator of the motorized wheel chair was taken to JFK Hospital for facial injuries and was expected to be released.

JETTY REPAIR AND RESILIENCE PROJECT AT ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK FINISHED

TRENTON – A major repair project of the north jetty at Barnegat Inlet, which creates a more resilient navigational channel and safeguards the southern tip of state-owned Island Beach State Park in Ocean County, is now complete, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bob Martin announced today.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers\’ (USACE) Philadelphia District awarded a $7.6 million contract for the project earlier this year and work began in May. The completed work, performed by Agate Construction Company of Clermont in Cape May County, stabilized approximately 740 feet of jetty stones on the north side of the inlet, which was battered by Superstorm Sandy.

In addition to having a restored jetty, the State Park Service has re-opened the site for fishing.

\”Completion of this important project to deal with severe damage caused by Superstorm Sandy has created a resilient shoreline to better protect the inlet from future storms,\” said Commissioner Martin. \”We thank the Army Corps of Engineers for moving as quickly as possible to get this massive job done and to get the inlet fully reopened to our residents and visitors.\’\’
