Last month the City of Gloucester City announced it was seeking applications for several professional positions that are renewed each year. The names of the successful applicants will be announced at the January Council Reorganization meeting.

The most important job out of all those being advertised is the position of City Administrator presently held by Paul Kain. He is also the City’s municipal clerk, a position he has held long enough to give him tenure. Between the two positions he is paid a salary of approximately $95,000 plus. Not included in his salary is his benefit package. Administrator Kain has been working without a contract for the past two years. One of his requests was fulfilled in the summer when the City hired a secretary to assist him.
