The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, was founded in LePuy, France in 1650, by a Jesuit priest, Father Jean-Pierre Medaille. As active contemplative women religious, the Sisters have always been \”dedicated to the practice of all the spiritual and corporal works of mercy … which will most benefit the dear neighbor\” (History of the Congregation).

In 1836, The Sisters of St. Joseph began \”their missionary\” work in America when they responded to the request of Bishop Joseph Rosati, CM, the first bishop of St. Louis. In St. Louis, the Sisters established a school for Native American and Deaf children.

The Sisters arrived in Philadelphia in 1847 to staff St. John’s Orphanage and because of their willingness to engage in various ministries, they soon became known by \”their spirit ready for any good work.\”

PHILADELPHIA PA–South Detective Division is looking to identify and locate the suspect for a residential burglary in Riverfront.

On January 22, 2015, at 1:50 pm, an unknown male was captured on surveillance video casing a residence on the 6xx block of South Front Street. After several minutes the suspect gains entry to the foyer in an attempt to take packages but when confronted by the complainant the suspect flees the area. (SEE VIDEO BELOW)

On July 3, 2014, troopers from Buena Vista Station responded to 9th Street in Buena Vista Township for the report of a man lying in the roadway with suspected gunshot wounds. Vincent Williams was pronounced deceased at the scene and transported to Shore Memorial Hospital pending a post mortem examination. The medical examiner determined the death to be a homicide.

BROOKLAWN NJ –On 01-27-2015 at approximately 9:00 PM, Brooklawn Police Officers were dispatched to the Swap Shop for a report of a robbery that just occurred. The first arriving officer quickly determined that it was not a robbery that occurred, but a burglary at Ron Todd Automotive. A witness reported seeing a male crawling out of a first floor window with a television and laptop computer. The suspect left the stolen property behind prior to fleeing on foot towards Westbrook Lanes. Several patrol units saturated the area in an attempt to locate the male, but were met with negative results.

But it all came crashing down in the summer of 2011 when he was named in a U.S. federal money laundering indictment as the head of an international narcotics trafficking enterprise. His illicit enterprise was believed responsible for distributing more than 7,500 kilos of South American cocaine in Spain and laundering more than $14 million in illegal drug proceeds in the United States.
