HADDON HEIGHTS NJ (CNBNewsnet)–A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 24, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 4th Ave. and Kings Highway, Haddon Heights, for Dr. Robert L. Powell, of Haddon Heights, who died on June 19, 2015, at the age of 69.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of Haddon Heights High School, received his B.S., B.A. and M.A. at Central Missouri State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity and earned his Ed.D. at Temple University. For 46 years, he taught marketing in the Division of Business Studies at Rowan College (formerly known as Gloucester County College). Dr. Powell formerly served as the Chairman of the Division of Business Studies and currently holds the title of Senior Professor.
Bob was a tenor drummer with the Haddon Heights Vagabonds Drum and Bugle Corps from the age of 10 to 17 and with the Reilly Raiders Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. He was active in his community serving on the Haddon Heights Board of Education. In addition, he was a coach for the Haddon Heights Youth Association (HHYA) and an active parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Bob loved gardening and spending summers on Long Beach Island. He was an exceptional watercolor artist and a longtime member of Gwynn Di Pilla\’s art class, participating in numerous art shows. As an alumnus, Bob was an avid Temple basketball and football fan.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Trish Powell (nee Cullen). Dear father of Becky (Mike) Ford and Andy (Lauren) Powell. Loving Pop Pop of Julia, Lyla, Michael and Emily. Devoted brother of Carol (Peaches) Larro and brother-in-law to Jody Cullen and David Haggerty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday evening 6 to 8:30 PM and Wednesday 9 to 10:30 AM at FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Interment New St. Mary\’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
