For many Americans, the Fourth of July is not just a day to celebrate the birth of our nation, but also to enjoy a few adult (ahem, alcoholic) beverages. A beer at the barbeque, maybe bourbon to toast the stars and stripes afterward. Well, Congress stands ready to help you buy that bottle – or at least help the brewers and distillers who sell you your booze of choice. Whether you get a price cut remains to be seen.

Barbara Myers, on July 3, 2015, of Haddon Heights, formerly of Camden. Age 78. Beloved wife of the late Thomas, Sr. Devoted mother of Thomas, Jr., Denise, Joseph, Jane Gallo, Michael, Paul, Joshua, and Isaac. Loving grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 8. Dear sister of Ernest, Laura, Carol, Merle, John, Karen, and the late Madeline, Lily, Herbert, and Jane. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Barbara always enjoyed going to the casinos with her sisters. There will be a viewing from 2:30 to 4:30pm Tuesday afternoon at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Over the weekend, the University of San Francisco (USF), a Jesuit Catholic university, used its Twitter and Facebook accounts to celebrate the San Francisco Pride Parade and the recent 5-4 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage in the United States.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Coast Guard Station Atlantic City held a change-of-command ceremony Thursday.

Capt. Benjamin Cooper, the commander of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, in Philadelphia, presided over the ceremony.

Johnson takes command of the station after serving at Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Station Atlantic City is crewed by 52 active duty men and women, as well as 22 enlisted reservists. The unit also draws support from five Coast Guard Auxiliary flotillas.

(New York, N.Y. – July 1, 2015) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has extended the public comment period for its proposed cleanup plan to address contaminated soil on residential properties at the Sherwin-Williams/Hilliards Creek Superfund site in Gibbsboro and Voorhees, N.J to August 1, 2015. The original public comment period for the cleanup plan was scheduled to end July 2, but the EPA is extending the comment period in response to a request from the public.
