Camden Man Arrested for Collingswood Home Invasion Robbery

A Camden man has been arrested and charged for a home invasion robbery that targeted an elderly couple in Collingswood, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Collingswood Police Chief Kevin Carey.
Jose Sanabria, 32, is charged with two counts of 1st-degree Armed Robbery. He was also charged with one count each of 1st-degree Home Invasion Burglary, 2nd-degree Aggravated Assault, 3rd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and 4th-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

On May 31, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers from the Collingswood Police Department responded to a residence on the 100 block of East Summerfield Avenue for a report of a home invasion robbery. Officers learned the victims were an elderly couple in their 80s. The husband reported that two men had entered his home and started punching him in the face while demanding the location of gold coins. One of the suspects was armed with a pocket-style knife. The suspects then dragged
the victim up the stairs to where his wife was located lying on the floor with a bag over her head. The suspects told him not to move, or they would kill his wife. The suspects ultimately fled with currency and gold valued at around $5,000.
During the investigation, detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Collingswood Police Department utilized surveillance video footage, cellular data, and other evidence to determine that Sanabria was one of the men responsible for the home invasion robbery. Sanabria was charged on June 23, 2026, and a fugitive investigation was initiated by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division. Sanabria was taken into custody on July 8, 2026, in Philadelphia by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force– Philadelphia Division. He will be held in Pennsylvania, pending extradition from New Jersey.

The investigation into the second suspect remains active and ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
