PHILADELPHIA, — On September 7, 2010, Mayor Michael A. Nutter will attend
back-to-school events with students, parents, teachers and Philadelphia School District administrators to mark the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic calendar. Mayor Nutter will participate in the 2010 National Million Father March and will encourage parents to take part in their children’s education by making time to take them to school. Then, Mayor Nutter and Dr. Arlene Ackerman will celebrate the opening day of school and will hold a ribbon cutting at the newly renovated Frances E. Willard Elementary School. These events mark the first day of Education Week—a series of education-related events throughout the city hosted by the Mayor’s Office.
