Independent Candidates Oppose Democrat Incumbents in both Gloucester City and Bellmawr

Gloucester City Democrats face opposition from Independents in the General Election \"6a00d8341bf7d953ef011571941ca1970b-pi\" Tuesday, November 2. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The same is true in Bellmawr, although Republicans did not put up a slate in either municipality.

Local voters will have the following choices:

GLOUCESTER CITY

Incumbent Democratic Mayor William James will be challenged for a four-year term by Independent Nicholas Schultz, under the slogan \”Save Our City.\” Schultz is a paid Gloucester City fireman, one of the 8 firemen scheduled to be laid off because of a budget deficit

In Ward 1, incumbent Democrat Councilman John Hutchinson is being challenged for one, three-year seat on City Council by Independent David Townsend (\”Greater Gloucester City\”) and Independent Michael Walters (\”Putting People First\”).

Democratic Councilman Bruce Parry (Ward 2) and Councilwoman Kellie Ferrie (Ward 3) are both running unopposed for two, three-year seats on City Council.

BELLMAWR

Incumbent Democratic Mayor Frank Filipek is being challenged for a four-year term by Independent Donald J. Bowers.

Democrat Councilwoman Regina Piontkowski and Councilman David Duncan are running for two, three-year seats on Borough Council, and are being challenged by Independent Daniel M. Capoblanco Jr.

BROOKLAWN

Running unopposed for a four-year term as Mayor is Democrat Theresa M. Branella.

Running unopposed for two, three-year seats on Borough Council are Democrats Greg Gilbert and Rosemarie Boulden.

Democrat Michael F. Mevoli is being challenged by Republican Earl Foster for an unexpired term on Borough Council.
