WASHINGTON—Pope Benedict XVI has named Msgr. Robert J. Brennan, 50, a pastor and vicar general of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York, and Msgr. Nelson J. Perez, 50, a pastor in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as auxiliary bishops for the Rockville Centre Diocese.
The appointments were publicized in Washington June 8, by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, apostolic nuncio to the United States.
Robert J. Brennan was born June 7, 1962, in New York City, and ordained a priest for the Rockville Centre Diocese in 1989.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from St. John’s University, Queens, New York, and a master of divinity degree from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York. He was named a chaplain to His Holiness, carrying the title monsignor, in 1996, and six years later, in 2002, was named a prelate of honor.
